Synopsis:Solving mathematical problems is central to the learning and application of mathematics. It involves the acquisition as well as application of mathematical concepts and skills in a wide range of situations, including non-routine, open-ended and real-world problems. However, many pupils have difficulties in solving these problems. Bearing the saying ‘Practice makes perfect’ in mind, Must Know Maths Problem Sums and Model Methods is a series of six books written in accordance with the latest Primary Mathematics Syllabus issued by the Ministry of Education to expose pupils to commonly-tested problem sums, including non-routine problem sums. Gaining familiarity in mathematical problem-solving, pupils will develop confidence and competence in their preparation for tests and examinations in schools, and eventually the PSLE examination. Worked examples with model drawings and useful tips, where applicable, are included to illustrate the techniques in problem-solving and the mathematical concepts involved. Full worked solutions for all the sums are also provided to facilitate self-checking and independent learning.
